Well I feel dumb…

Some time ago I bought larger drives for my NAS. Just noticed recently that I forgot to ‘expand’ the capacity once the drives were installed and updated. So for the longest time I was working with 1/4 of the capacity of the drives… Doh. Might be the reason why the drives were chirping so much when I made changes. They were running out of space.

But today I get a new problem. Last week not issues accessing anything on the drives. Today. No access to the drives. Looks like a permissions problem… on the NAS. Which I haven’t changed at all in years. I hate when things just don’t work.

Speaking of things that don’t just work. I recently removed a firewall device from the local network because it was causing 2 issues. Wife couldn’t connect to a zoom link for some reason and I couldn’t connect to Bluesky. So I tried to connect to the firewall device and it would not do it. When I set it up some time ago I didn’t really have any problems. So I don’t get what is going on now. Pulled it out and have to figure out what’s going on with the machine later. I don’t like that but ugh, I’m not really a sys admin and don’t know all this stuff.
